You will need to look for the model of your device on the Acer Support website. Simply visit the website, input the model number and you'll be taken to downloads from where you can check if there is an update to Acer Crystal Eye webcam.

Crystal Eye Webcam is not listed in my Start menu. My webcam works in MSN, Yahoo, anywhere, but it does not show in the Start menu. So I can't just turn it on and take pictures. It does show in Device Manager though.

Try to install the application again. If you have Windows Vista, 7 or 8, you will need to make use of the Run as Administrator option so that the setup package has access to system's components and privileges. Then you can see it in the Application's menu and Startup (only if you check it).

There is no way someone could access the webcam through its native mode. Actually, it is considered to be impossible with built-in cams. If you're using an application to video chat, you can close down the application and all the viewers will disconnect from your computer. Alternatively, install a firewall solution to control the access to your computer and your devices.

I reformatted my Acer laptop. After this process, I installed all the drivers and software from the Acer CD. When I tried the Crystal Eye built-in webcam it failed. Every time I try to open it, a text box appears saying "Camera Not Found". Do you know how I can fix it? I followed the instructions but I'm not sure why it's not working.

I have an Acer Aspire 8920 Laptop with Crystal Eye built-in webcam. As far as I know the software and drivers are installed. Every time I try to use the camera or even open it, a window pops up saying "Camera Not Found". I've never even seen what the program looks like or the camera in action. My operating system is Windows 7. In my opinion the problem is caused by the drivers. Under description it says USB Video Device, but it's not connected through USB. It is a built-in webcam. What can I do?

You can download and install Timershot. This application is developed by Microsoft and can be used to take pictures using the web cam installed in the system at specified time intervals.

There may be a simple fix. go into the camera settings and then hit the default that should fix it and if that doesn't then you have to install the software over again

Could someone tell me how to record videos with my Acer Crystal Eye webcam? I have a laptop and it came with the webcam built in. I can't figure out how to record videos.

Answer by Dan Angel

In order to record a video with your webcam you will need Windows Movie Maker. If your Windows operating system doesn't have Movie Maker included, you can download it from Microsoft Download & Shop web page. In Windows Movie Maker go to Movie Tasks > Capture video > Capture from video device. Select your webcam in Available device field and click Next. Enter a file name and choose a place to save your captured video and click Next. On video settings tab select the video setting you want to use for capturing video and audio. Click again Next and the Start Capture button. After the video is ready click the Stop Capture button and Finish. You will find the video in the output folder.
